How can I estimate the number of actions for the pricing?

Our pricing is based on the number of actions you track each month. You get up to 500,000 actions for free with our Core plan, and you can buy up to five million monthly actions. With Enterprise plans, you can track up to four billion actions per month, depending on the plan tier you choose.

In this article, we’ll explain what actions are and how to count them.

(Page scrolls can be turned off in Administration > Sites & apps > Data collection > Page scrolling > Measure scroll depth. JavaScript errors can be turned off in Tag Manager > Piwik PRO tag (tracking code) > UX issues > Detect JavaScript errors.)

No. of actions in GA3, GA4 and other tools

If you’re new to Piwik PRO and would like to estimate your monthly actions based on your previous tools, have a look at the guides below.

Google Analytics (GA3)

Check the number of hits. The hits in GA3 are similar to our actions. However, they’re not identical, so the number you get is an estimate.

For the selected date range

  • Page views + events = Hits
  • GA3 > Behavior  > Overview > Pageviews
  • GA3 > Behavior > Events > Overview > Events

For the last 30 days

  • GA3 > Admin > Property Settings > Property Hit Volume

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Check the hit count. In GA4, hits correspond to our actions, but they are not necessarily identical. Therefore, the number presented is an approximation.

For the selected date range

  • GA4 > Events > Overview > Event count

Other tools

For other analytics tools, you can use one of the following options:

  • Check the number of page views on your site. Typically, more than 90% of actions on your site are page views. However, this isn’t always the case for ecommerce sites where visitors may perform multiple events in a single session. The proportions may also be different if you use many custom events.
  • Check the number of requests in your server log. Usually, this is 10–20% of all actions. But keep in mind that this number might not be completely accurate. It’s because visitors often perform multiple actions in a session, which can affect the numbers.
