Unique pageviews are often used as an alternative to classic pageviews. So what makes a pageview unique? A single session for a single user. So if a user views the same page many times during one sessions, it will constitute one unique pageview. Average time spent on page measures how long your visitors are actively viewing a certain page (i.e. when the tab is active and in focus). This metric could be especially useful if you want to find out if your content is engaging the users, or are they just visiting and very quickly leaving your page. Don’t confuse exit rate with bounce rate. Bounce rate measures how many users started and ended their visit on your domain by just entering a page and leaving. Exit rate, on the other hand, is the percentage of visitors on your site who left a particular page but could’ve visited other pages on the site before.
Helpful tip: Exit rate has to always be at least equal to bounce rate of the same page. If you’ll get different result, then there is something wrong with your analytics.
