How can I change the structure in the page report?

Analytics

In the older version of Analytics, the page report shows you page URLs grouped into categories. The category is created based on the slash character in the URL. For example, for the page https://clearbank.com/product-tour/ it will show a category product-tour. If the structure of the page URL is more complex — for example, https://clearbank.com/blog/better-banking-with-healthy-habits— Analytics will create the first-level category blog and the second-level category better-banking-with-healthy-habits.

Now, if you’d like to change how this mechanism works, you can define the delimiter and split the page URLs differently.

To modify the delimiter, follow these steps:

  1. Edit the config/config.ini.php file.
  2. Find the following line:
  3. [General]action_title_category_delimiter = ::

  4. Define category names:
  5. piwikTracker.setDocumentTitle("our offer :: details :: one");

  6. Now pages in the page report will be grouped under the newly defined categories according to the delimiter :: . For example: our offer, details, one.

Note: The categorization works only for the older version of Analytics. In Analytics (new) we don’t use categories in page reports.
