Site Speed and Page Speed Reports
May 15, 2018
Page speed is very important in two ways:
Monitoring the whole website and, what is more actionable, most important pages is crucial. We don’t want to lose any potential customers.
Checking the overall website speed
Going to Visitors > Overview and choosing Avg. generation time metric to display on the chart we can check the overall loading time of the website:

It can inform us about general problems with the website but to really keep an eye on the performance we have to analyze the most important pages separately.
Checking the speed of the specific page
Just go to Page titles report under Actions and look on the last column – here sorted from the slowest pages to fastest:

In this report, we can find pages crucial in conversion funnel and check if problems are related to the loading speed.
Hovering on the particular value for each page we will get an additional information about the range of registered times of the page generation.

If page generation speed stays above 1 second we recommend you to start optimizing it.
Apart from that, we can check the page speed for each day and see if any performance problem has occurred.
Being on the Page Titles report click on the Row evolution icon and choose the last report to enlarge (Avg. generation time).

Compare generation time for a couple of pages
Let’s say we want to compare a couple of pages and see how their generation time looks on one chart.
To do that, we have to click this small link at the bottom of the details pop-up:

Now, we are back in the table and we have to choose the pages which we want to compare.
Use Shift+click method to just add the pages without showing the pop-up and just click to display detailed comparison like the following example:

Now, we are able to see any deviations from correct page speed.
