Why blocked IP addresses are still being tracked?

This issue usually is connected to the IP anonymization feature.

There are two main reasons:

  • You have provided the anonymized IP address to the blocked IP field. If your IP ends in zero there is a chance that you’ve used the anonymized IP provided by Piwik PRO. If that is the case please use the actual IP that you want to block (without anonymized zeroes)
  • You’re anonymizing the IP address for the internal processes of Piwik PRO thus preventing the IP blocker from being able to filter the addresses correctly. If this is the case and you cannot disable anonymization for internal processes (usually because of local privacy laws) then you won’t be able to use the IP blocking.
