Attributes Browser

Each variable collected in Audience Manager is called an attribute. For example, position, device type, or gender are attributes. In the profile browser in Audience Manager, attributes appear in each visitor’s profile. Yet, if you want to see and manage all attributes, you can use the attribute browser. In this article, we’ll show you how.

Before you start

Here are some things to know before you begin working with the attribute browser:

  • You can check the fill rate of an attribute by looking at the non-blank number. It’ll show you the number of profiles that have this attribute filled with data.
  • You can check the most common values of an attribute. For example, if you have profiles with an age attribute and your visitors are mostly 25-30 years old, you will see the 25-30 as the most common value.
  • You can see the number of profiles that are filled with a unique value.
  • You can filter attributes by: API access, source, and type.
  • By default, attributes can’t be accessed via public API and if you want to make it accessible edit an attribute and change settings for API access.

Use an attribute browser

The attribute browser will help you judge which attributes are worth using for building an audience. By looking at the number of non-blank profiles, unique values, and most common values for each attribute, you’ll be able to pick the good ones and leave out the others.

To access the attribute browser, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Menu > Audience Manager.
  2. Navigate to Attributes.
  3. Click an attribute you want to check.
  4. For each attribute you will see the following data:
  • Non-blank: the number and percentage of profiles that have this attribute filled with data.
  • Unique values: the number of profiles that are filled with a unique value.
  • Most common values: the values that are appearing most often in profiles for that attribute.

Filter attributes

Anytime, you can filter attributes. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Click Filters.
  2. Pick filters that you want to use.

Edit an attribute

At any point, if you want to edit an attribute, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Menu > Audience Manager.
  2. Navigate to Attributes.
  3. Click Edit next to the attribute that you want to update.
  4. Do the update.

Grant public API access for an attribute

If you need to grant access via public API to any attribute, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Menu > Audience Manager.
  2. Navigate to Attributes.
  3. Click Edit next to the attribute that you want to update.
  4. Toggle Access this attribute via public API.
