How can I ignore traffic from my office?

People in your office interact with your website differently than other visitors. Copywriters may look at one page for an hour to come up with better copy. Developers may jump from one page to the other to spot technical issues. The support team will likely spend lots of time searching for support materials. None of these behaviors is similar to how your clients and readers interact with your website. Therefore it’s good to omit the traffic that comes from your office and focus on data related with external visitors.

In Piwik PRO, you can ignore for each website or app, or for the whole account.

For a website or app

To ignore traffic coming from your office for a website or app, follow these steps:

  1. Find and note your IP address.
  2. Login to Piwik PRO.
  3. Go to Menu > Administration.
  4. Navigate to Websites & apps.
  5. On the left, select the website you want to work with.
  6. In Settings, scroll down until you see Blacklisting.

For the whole account

To ignore traffic coming from your office for the whole account, follow these steps:

  1. Find and note your IP address.
  2. Login to Piwik PRO.
  3. Go to Menu > Analytics settings.
  4. Navigate to Settings.
  5. In Global list of Excluded IPs, type IP addresses you want to exclude.
  6. Blacklisting for the whole account
  7. Click Save.

Note: If you’re masking visitor IP addresses (Menu > Analytics settings > Privacy), you are not able to block IP addresses from being tracked because Piwik PRO will not recognize the IP address.
