How can I ignore traffic from my office?

Administration

Needed permissions: owner

At your office, people use your website differently from regular visitors. Copywriters spend an hour on a single page to improve the text, developers jump around to find technical issues, and the support team searches intensely for support materials. This isn’t how your clients and readers use the site. So, it’s essential to filter out office traffic and focus just on external visitor data.

In this article, we’ll help you filter out office-related traffic.

For a site or app

Available from version 16.0.0. For versions below 16.0.0, go to Menu > Administration > Websites & apps > Settings > Exclude IP addresses.

To exclude office traffic for a single site or app, follow these steps:

  1. Find and note down your office’s IP address.
  2. Log in to Piwik PRO.
  3. Go to Menu > Administration.
  4. Navigate to Sites & apps.
  5. On the left, select the site or app you want to work with.
  6. Navigate to Data collection > Filters.
  7. In Don’t collect data from these IP addresses, type the IP addresses you want to exclude.

Note: You can use wildcards like 1.2.3.* or 1.2.*.*. The added IP addresses exist along with the addresses set in the global site settings.

  8. Done! From now on, data from your office won’t be collected.

Note: This setting won’t affect past data, so data collected from the chosen IP address in the past will remain visible in your reports.

For the entire account

Available from version 16.0.0. For versions below 16.0.0, go to Menu > Administration > Platform > Global website settings > Exclude IP addresses.

To exclude office traffic across the entire account, follow these steps:

  2. Log in to Piwik PRO.
  3. Go to Menu > Administration.
  4. Navigate to Account.
  5. On the left, click Global site & app settings.
