About metrics and dimensions from Google Ads

After integrating with Google Ads, you’ll be able to create custom reports using metrics and dimensions from Google Ads. The integration matches data on the session level and most Google Ads dimensions will work okay with Analytics metrics, but there are some limitations.

First, let’s look at Google Ads dimensions that match sessions in Analytics.

  • Account ID (Google Ads)
  • Campaign name (Google Ads)
  • Ad group name (Google Ads)
  • Ad group ID (Google Ads)
  • Ad group ad ID (Google Ads)
  • Ad network type (Google Ads)

These dimensions can be combined with analytics metrics like sessions, bounce rate, goal conversions and with all metrics from Google Ads.

Now, let’s look at dimensions that are shared by Google Ads and Analytics.

Shared dimensions for Google Ads and Analytics

  • Keyword
  • Device type
  • Session entry URL
  • Date
  • Website name 

These dimensions can be combined with all Analytics and Google Ads metrics.
