Consent Manager Glossary

Consent – in Piwik PRO Marketing Suite it’s a visitor’s permission or agreement for being tracked. According to the GDPR, it’s crucial for collecting the data.
Consent bar – it is one of the Consent Widgets. This is a “sticky” bar displayed at the top or bottom of the page to remind visitors about their rights regarding collection and processing of their data for specific purposes. Upon clicking it, the visitor will see either the Single consent or Extended consent form. It will be shown until the visitor submits the form. Please note that it’s optional.
Consent Manager – Piwik PRO Marketing Suite provides a wide range of features to help your organization become GDPR-compliant. These features change how tags are triggered and how data is collected. Your visitors will be able to easily exercise their data subject rights. All such requests are stored in the Piwik PRO Consent Manager – you’ll see the status of requests so they can be addressed within the specified time limits. GDPR compliance will require more tedious work behind the scenes than is currently required, there is no getting around it. Piwik PRO takes care of as much of this as possible so you can focus on more pressing issues.
Debug Mode – you can preview and debug all the Consent Widgets.
Extended consent form – it is one of the Consent Widgets. First-time visitors will see a consent form (a pop-up) asking for a permission to collect data for a defined set of purposes (e.g. Remarketing, A/B testing, etc.). Until the consent is given, certain categories of tags won’t be fired. If a visitor does not consent to some or all data collection purposes, the corresponding tags will stay disabled. It will be shown up once somebody will enter your website or once you will set the tags with a new tag type.
Extended Consent Form Failure Note – it is one of the Consent Widgets. It’s being used as a notification after failure to submit a privacy consent choice. It appears in case of any connection problem and gives a visitor a chance to try again and submit the consent.
GDPR – The General Data Protection Act (GDPR) is being introduced (25.05.2018) by the European Union to regulate how personal data can be processed and stored. It’s intended to reinforce data protection.
GDPR compliance feature – it has a great impact on firing tags mechanism. This feature changes how tags are triggered and how data is collected:
Insights – anonymous data about each visitor’s consent decision. They are based on the Consent Manager generated reports (charts).
Simple consent form – it is one of the Consent Widgets. A simple consent form helps visitors to give consent faster. All is needed is a click on the button with no need to check any options before. It can be used only for one tag type. This pop-up will be served only if it’ll be activated and there will be only one type of consent to display – the same type as defined in Simple consent form options.
Thank you note – it is one of the Consent Widgets. It’s shown after a visitor submits their privacy consent choices. It’s off by default and it’s optional.
